Build and glaze your own mug!
This pottery class is a guided experience where you will learn to use the "pinch" method of forming pottery to make your own mug! As a new addition to our pinch-pot pottery classes, we now offer a glaze product that can be applied to your greenware (air-dried pottery), so you can add under glazes to your pinch pot during the class time! After the bisque fire, our instructor will apply a crystal-clear glaze before its final firing for you.
This event takes place in the Athenaeum Learning Center, and the full menu of food and drink will be available to order throughout the class. Your hands will get clay all over them, so if you plan to eat at the Athenaeum and don't want clay on your food, we recommend arriving early.
When to expect pick up?
Pottery is a slow and mindful process, so please allow up to three weeks from the date of your class for your piece to be ready for pick-up. This time allows for the stages of drying, bisque firing, clear glazing, and final firing. We’ll notify you as soon as your pottery is finished, and you can look forward to taking home your unique, handcrafted piece!
NOTES:
- This event is limited to the age of 16 and up.
- Instruction will be focused on making a mug, but if your creative spark moves you to make something else, go for it!
- The price of this course includes one finalized piece. If you make more than one item during your class and would like to keep both, we will gladly fire the second piece but there will be a $7 charge for the additional glazing/firing supplies and time.
