Looking for a fun, creative, and hands-on activity for your child?
Sign them up for our Pinch Pot Bowl Class held in our Athenaeum Learning Center! In this exciting pottery class, kids will learn the basics of shaping and molding clay to create their very own pinch pot bowl. Using just their hands, they'll explore textures and forms, making their piece as unique as their imagination!
Throughout the class, children will have the opportunity to personalize their bowls with fun textures, cute shapes, and even letters, making each one truly special. Once their bowls are shaped, they’ll paint their creations with colorful underglazes, which will be applied to the greenware clay and fired to create a beautiful, long-lasting piece of art.
This class is a great way to encourage your child’s creativity, build fine motor skills, and foster self-expression all while having fun!
When to expect pick up?
Pottery is a slow and mindful process, so please allow up to three weeks from the date of your class for your piece to be ready for pick-up. This time allows for the stages of drying, bisque firing, clear glazing, and final firing. We’ll notify you as soon as their pottery is finished, and they can look forward to taking home their unique, handcrafted piece!
Wine, beer, & coffee are available for purchase during this event. The full Athenaeum food menu is also available, but due to the muddy nature of the clay, we recommend you plan to eat before or after your class time.
NOTES:
This event is limited to the age of 10 and up.
- Instruction will be focused on making a bowl, but if their creative spark moves them to make something else, go for it!
- The price of this course includes one finalized piece. If you make more than one item during your class and would like to keep both, we will gladly fire the second piece but there will be a $7 charge for the additional glazing/firing supplies and time.
