Get your hands dirty (literally) with this introduction to throwing pottery. This 90 minute class is fully immersive as you will be hands-on with the clay and wheel following along with the instructor. Each student will get three balls of clay - one half pound ball to practice, and two attempts to make a final piece.
Any final pieces will be professionally trimmed and glazed for you (unless you are doing the Master Class, then you will be trimming and glazing your pieces). There are five glaze options you can choose from.
Class includes:
- Use of all tools needed, including wheel, carving tools, sponges, and shaping tools.
- Use of a pottery apron to protect your clothing (clay stains!)
- Three balls of clay for practice and 1 final piece (an additional price will be added if the student would like to keep any other pieces created.)
- Professional instruction and coaching throughout the class.
- Lots of fun and laughter
This event is limited to the age 18 and up.
FAQs:
1. How long is the class?
A: 2. 5 hours
2. Can I order food and drink during the class?
A: Yes! While it's easy to sip a beer or wine while throwing (don't worry, we don't mind a little mud on our glasses), it can be challenging to eat food while throwing. There will be a brief intermission and food can be ordered to be ready for the intermission, or please come early or stay late for dinner.
3. What if I end up with more than one piece?
A: Your ticket includes professional trimming, glazing, and firing for only ONE piece. If you absolutely love your second piece, you can request it be trimmed, glazed, and fired at $7 per piece to cover the additional costs.
4. Is there an age limit?
A: Yes, throwing classes are for those 18 years and older. If you would like to have a throwing class for younger students, please reach out about scheduling a private class.
5. When should I arrive?
A: Please arrive at least 5 minutes before the start of class to ensure you do not miss critical instructions/information. Also, if you plan to order drinks prior to the class, please arrive at least 15 minutes early.
